Unless the Lord Builds…
Dear Friends, It’s almost here! The children of our church have been working enthusiastically to show us what The Real Meaning of Christmas is. Join us this Sunday, 13 December, for a joy-filled worship service. It’s also the perfect time to have your loved ones be with us. Our family can’t wait! “Unless the Lord builds… Unless the Lord…” These are great words from Psalm 127, and as a family we have committed them to memory. We know that unless God is
It’s A Wonderful Life!
It’s A Wonderful Life! That, of course, is the name of a film that many of us have seen—a perennial holiday classic. Along with The Bishop’s Wife and Scrooged, it's one of our family’s holiday favorites. (I should add The Holiday and Die Hard for the women in our family!) But is life all that wonderful for us? Our sermon topic for Sunday is “It’s A Wonderful Life,” and some of the questions we’ll be looking at are: What would the world
The Real Meaning of Christmas — A Christmas Play
The Real Meaning of Christmas is a fun, lively, joy-filled, and incredibly easy Christmas play! It starts with Isaiah 9, where the prophet announces the Messiah's birth, then goes into a fun and interactive Christmas narrative, and ends with singing Joy to the World. THE REAL MEANING OF CHRISTMAS STORY Long ago, before the birth of Jesus, God spoke through the prophet Isaiah: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his

Cast All Your Anxiety On Him
Dear Friends, We awoke early this morning to the shocking news of one of the deadliest attacks in Paris. It is claimed to be the worst attack since World War II. All we can do right now is to pray for the families of the victims and the people of Paris. This horrific attack brings to our family’s mind the terrorism of 9/11. We were living in New York then, and it was after Stephanie and I had dropped Shirin and Sarah
When Trouble Comes
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. -1 Peter 1:6-7 Peter was writing to believers who were suffering in all kinds of ways. They lived in the midst of some of the
God’s Faithfulness: I’ll Stand By You No Matter What
This faithfulness of God is so astonishing that it takes literally years to get it. It’s one of those things about him that increasingly amazes us as we learn more about him. With each life experience and a growing knowledge and understanding of the Scriptures, we see more clearly how shocking his faithfulness is. He goes way overboard with his loyalty for us. Think of it: God’s loyalty and faithfulness to us is independent of our loyalty and faithfulness to him.
