Your 100 Day Prayer: Day 89 – It Will Pass Away
Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
–Psalm 37:1-4
What a load off our shoulders—we don’t have to give a second thought to those who wrong us. God will make them and their actions pass away. Dr. Snyder tells us that the first verses put in a nutshell for us the impact of the entire psalm and he encourages us to re-read it several times and see.
He explains this psalm further: “This encouragement comes straight out of not merely David’s experience but also that of his ancestors who trusted God for their deliverance. It’s also the testimony of the countless people since his day who discovered the same thing. My family and I can add an ‘amen’ to this. Whenever we have placed our hateful opponents into God’s hands and just moved on to do our work, wonderful things have happened. We didn’t have to lift a finger. He did it all. In fact, our attempts to fix the problems just made things worse.
“Our job description remains the same as it was for David. If such are the circumstances that you are praying about, then remember that what we are called upon to do is ‘trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.'”
How hard is that?
TODAY’S PRAYER: Ask God to grant his inexplicable peace of mind even in the hottest fire of resistance or antagonism on the part of others. Remember, it’s God’s job to take care of them. He will. Just wait and see.
