Your 100 Day Prayer: Day 22 – See for Yourself
In you our fathers put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. They cried to you and were saved; in you they trusted and were not disappointed. -Psalm 22:4-5
This Psalm is a continuation of the Psalm (Psalm 22:1) we read on Day 18 where David was expressing his sense of total abandonment from God. In this part of the Psalm he seems to be saying that if his ancestors trusted God and found him faithful, he will also see the faithfulness of God.
“It seems to me that David’s point is that even though, at the moment, God seems to be absent, this whole thing has been thoroughly road-tested and tried too many times to count. It’s been found to be true over every generation and can be found to be true in this one and all the rest to follow. Now it’s had over four-thousand years to be tried and tested in the crucible of human experience and has been found absolutely true in the lives of millions of real people in real life.
And if you have trouble believing the thousands of years of human experience and testimony that prove all this is true, then don’t believe it. Just try it for yourself. You’ll see.”
TODAY’S PRAYER: Ask the Lord to impress upon your mind so powerfully that you can’t get away from it: all history cries out that God is the Ruler of all things great and small. However bleak it may look at the moment, he’s actually on his way, bringing the good news with him.
