Weekly Invite – 13 August 2017
Summer Worship Schedule continues this Sunday and will run until Sunday, 3 September. This Sunday’s Bible study will be on Chapter 17 of Acts. The questions we’ll be focusing on are:
-What are the world’s misperceptions of Christian faith?
-Can the Gospel be rationally defended?
-How did the early church preach the Gospel to an unbelieving culture?
-Are we where are today because of a divine plan?
Summer Vacation Bible School for Youth and Children: “Growing in Grace and Gratitude” will be the theme. The overarching theme is found in Ephesians 2:8-10: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Request from Pastor Snyder: Could you please ask your children to send a mock up of their dream worship service? He would like to try to incorporate their ideas into future service.
Plan Ahead to Join Us and Invite Your Friends!

-What to wear: Your festive Oktoberfest clothes, if you wish!
Church Logo Competition: Has God given you the gift of creating amazing designs? If yes, we’re collecting suggestions for a logo that represents who we are and conveys our message to those outside the church. The deadline to receive logos is 20 August.
Keep in Prayer—those traveling and away from us during this time.
Fall Weekend Retreat: Munich Christian Fellowship invites SF to join them for a weekend retreat at Berghof Agatharied from Friday, 29 September to Sunday, 1 October. A friend of 40 years of Pastor Ken and Marilyn Blake, Floyd McCallum, will be the excellent speaker for the retreat. The cost for the weekend: €90 for a single and €200 per family. If you’d like to attend, please sign up on Sunday.
About the Speaker: Pastor Floyd & Esther McCallum, Jr. have served in the pastorate for 44 years in ten different churches and a short year at their denomination’s headquarters. They celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary on June 13, 2017. This union has produced three children, eight grandchildren, and two step- grandchildren. These years have produced many highs and lows in ministry and life. Their greatest highs have been the changed lives they’ve seen in each of their ministerial assignments. Walking through the valley of the shadow of death (Pastor Floyd has given one of his kidneys to his wife Esther to save her life) and other life challenges with their parishioners has produced the miracles of ministry they have seen. They look forward to spending a a couple of days of retreat with their friends Pastor Ken and Marilyn and their church families of Starnberg Fellowship and Munich Christian Fellowship. Pastor Floyd will guide us to a “personal reformation”.
Mark your calendars!
