Cast All Your Anxiety On Him
Dear Friends,
We awoke early this morning to the shocking news of one of the deadliest attacks in Paris. It is claimed to be the worst attack since World War II. All we can do right now is to pray for the families of the victims and the people of Paris.
This horrific attack brings to our family’s mind the terrorism of 9/11. We were living in New York then, and it was after Stephanie and I had dropped Shirin and Sarah off at the train station that we heard the shocking news. It was another seven hours before we were able to reach them.
As a Christian, how did I react? Was I enraged at what had happened? Did fear grip my heart, as it did the thousands trying to reach their loved ones? Absolutely. Yes, I’m a Christian, but I’m also human, and the dread of never seeing my wife and daughter gripped my mind.
But, as Christians, we have a mighty and powerful Father to whom we can turn. With Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are assured of his grace and presence with us. We are promised his comfort and dwelling, and his perfect justice.
One of the verses that we’ll be looking at for this Sunday’s message, When Trouble Comes, is 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” We are encouraged to bring every one of our fears and concerns to God—because of his infinite love for us. And no matter what is happening in our lives or around us, we keep focused on the fact that his plan is for our ultimate good.
Let us reach out to our neighbors, colleagues, and those who are fearful, with the good and redeeming news of the Gospel message. Let Starnberg Fellowship continue to blaze a light in this dark and increasingly hopeless world.
I encourage you to join us this Sunday as we worship, pray together, and enjoy an extended fellowship over Brotzeit, always remembering God’s abundant goodness and grace in our lives.
If you have any prayer requests or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
In Christ’s love,
Pastor John
