Church Life Weekly Invite – 26 February

Weekly Invite – 26 February

This Sunday, Pastor Snyder will be preaching on “The Lord’s Prayer.” Scriptures we’ll be looking at are Matthew 6:5-15. Please keep in prayer those families away this weekend.

Sermon Notes: The Lord’s Prayer
Matthew 6:5-15

Intro:

-The Lord’s Prayer is actually the Disciples’ Prayer.

1. “Our Father who art in heaven…”

-“Father” = Creator, Source, Helper, Rescuer and Friend.
-“Heaven” is where God dwells in a wholly other realm.

2. “Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done…”

-We make God’s name holy when we allow his kingdom to come on earth.

3. “Give us this day our daily bread…”

-“Bread” is whatever we need to sustain us.

4. “Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors…”

-If we refuse to forgive others, we clog the channel of God’s forgiveness of us.

5. “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil…”

We ask God to keep us from the evil one and from being enticed away from him.
Conclusion:

-The Lord’s Prayer is a model for all our prayers.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
